Reopening of Gale

2022

April 13th Session has made some changes to our COVID-19 guidelines:

  • Masks (except for worship leaders)
  • Passive screening
  • Maximize ventilation
  • Take out only for food and drink
  • Standard cleaning
  • Congregational singing (w/ masks)
  • Choral singing (w/o masks)
  • No shared items (bulletins, hymnals, offering plates)

Children will begin in the sanctuary and then proceed to the basement for Sunday School following the Children’s Story.

March 26th – This week the Session has updated Gale’s COVID-19 policy to include the following guidelines:

Passive screening: Please be sure to screen yourself for any COVID-19 symptoms before coming in the building.

Masks: We will continue to ask that everyone wear a well fitted mask when indoors. An exception will be made for worship leaders, performers and young children.

Social distancing: Keeping a distance of 2m from persons in other households is still recommended.

Congregational singing: The congregation will be invited to sing softly in worship while keeping their masks on.

Food and drink: We will be resuming take-out meals like Tuesday lunches and the pork dinner.

Ventilation: The wall between the fellowship hall and the sanctuary will be opened to increase ventilation. The HVAC fans will also be running during worship.

Shared items: We will continue to refrain from passing offering plates and using hymnbooks in the pews.

Vaccination status: We will no longer be checking vaccination status for those using the building.

Contact tracing: You no longer need to sign as you enter the building.

Our hope is that as we get closer to Easter, further restrictions will be removed to allow for additional events and programming.

2021
Greetings friends of Gale Presbyterian Church,

The Session and Board of Managers invite you to join us as we resume public worship services in our sanctuary on Sunday, September 12th at 10:30 am.

We are excited about this and we hope you are as well. We will also continue with our YouTube Livestreaming of our services.  You can participate in worship with us either in person or online.

All necessary protocols and limitations will be in place in order to keep everyone safe and healthy.  Although the province of Ontario has not mandated vaccination requirements to attend religious services, for the safety and comfort of all those attending in person, our Presbytery is strongly recommending that all be fully vaccinated.

We ask you to follow these practices when you join us for worship:

  1. Maintain a 2 meter distance from people who are not in your family bubble.
  2. Always wear a suitable face covering.
  3. Enter and exit only by the main portico doors.
  4. As you enter the building a greeter will ensure you have answered the screening questions and that you have a suitable face mask. If you have forgotten to bring your own mask, we will have disposable masks available for you. Masks must be worn while you are in the building.
  5. There will be hand sanitizer available. Please use this.
  6. As you enter the sanctuary a greeter will direct you to suitable seating. The seating has been arranged to satisfy our need of physical distancing. Members of family bubbles will sit as a group, of course.
  7. Children will be asked to stay with their family for the whole service. There will not be a special gathering of the children nor any children’s programming. The nursery will not be open.  Session is hoping to begin Sunday School on October 3.
  8. We will not be able to hold our beloved after-service coffee fellowship at this time.
  9. Only the upstairs section will be open.
  10. We ask that only one person be in the washrooms at any time. A signal system is set up to indicate if the washroom is currently occupied. There is spray sanitizer by the sinks. Please give the sinks and taps a spray before you leave.
  11. The library will be open but not staffed.
  12. There will be an offering basket at the back of the church for donations instead of our usual manner of taking up the offering.

Of course worship will not be as we remember. It will still be worship, just different for the time being. Please join us at the church if you wish. Please follow us on YouTube if you prefer. In either format, you will be blessed to have participated in worship.

We will see you soon!
