TWO REALMS IN THE ONE SPIRIT
Genesis 1, Psalm 8
“I’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO HEAR A SERMON ABOUT …”
We asked people to finish this sentence as a starter for our themes of worship at the start of the year. We’ll start with this response: “I’ve always wanted to hear a sermon about how to reconcile the science of evolution with our belief in God/intelligent design.”
This topic is dear to my heart since my undergraduate studies were so clearly focused on science, biology and evolution. This understanding informed much of my theological studies at seminary.
In a nutshell, I have no problem being a card-carrying evolutionist who finds powerful, spiritual truths in the words of our scripture, especially Genesis.
