SERMON SHORT FOR NOVEMBER 4th, 2018

Wipe away the tears!

Isaiah 25:6-10a, John 11:32-44

This Sunday we celebrate All Saints Day. It is a time to remember our loved ones who have left us. It is also a time to recognize that our mortal reality ensures that we, ourselves shall pass on some day and be one of those remembered as the saints.

The interplay of these two sentiments is played out in the story of the raising of Lazarus, Jesus’ friend. What we should take from that story is that death is never the last word. Christ is the last word. He calls out the dead to be alive. He calls us out – be alive!

“The Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces”
