Getting Gale out of a jam!

Gale’s Life and Mission team formed the sweet partnership with Woolwich Community Services as a way to provide a sweet treat for some families and also to teach the art of making jam.   The effort ended in 130 jars of strawberry jam, half delivered to WCS for distribution and half to be sold to Gale members.  The revenue from the sale will help to fund the next partnership which will involve the making of homemade soup in the fall!

The strawberries were picked on June 30 at Martin’s Berry Farm near Floradale by 20 eager participants.  They picked about 78 pounds, enough to shut down the berry farm that evening!

Jamming started at 9 a.m. on July 2 with Hilke Dann and Kees Vandermey in charge. Production continued to high noon.

Bob and Cathy Gee delivered 65 jars of strawberry jam to WCS.

This partnership is appreciated by Gale and WCS – here’s a note from Kelly Christie at WCS:

Thank you all for making this jam’in session possible. Sounds like it was a lot of fun.

The jam looks delicious!
