SERMON SHORT FOR January 7th, 2018
One light for all.
Isaiah 60:1-6
Matthew 2:1-12
The story of the visit of the magi reveals an important truth about 
the coming of the Christ. Consider this: these worshipers were not of the same faith as the people of Joseph and Mary. They came – and then they left; presumably to go back to their homes, their own faith in their own way. There is no hint that they converted to the faith of Jesus’ people after worshiping him.
What are we to make of this? The light of the world that came to the world through the birth of the messiah is not an exclusive possession of those who follow his way. The light shines for all.
We do well as followers of his way when we focus on shining his light in the darkness and care not if it shines on others who do not follow the same way as we do.
