Knowing God is Here
Genesis 28:10-19a
Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43
This week’s Genesis story is about Jacob escaping this father’s and brother’s anger by running north to live with his uncle Laban. He’s a refugee. He makes camp in an unassuming spot with only a stone for a pillow. Yet in this unassuming spot he is visited with a most powerful dream. After the vision he declares “Surely the Lord is in this place – and I did not know it!”
Does that ever happen to you? Often we discover that God was present and active in a place we never would have expected him. Are we open to this surprising, unexpected, unseen God in our lives and in our world?
