Gale Presbyterian Church was the first group to bring Howell’s Fish Fry to the area. Beginning in the 1990’s there were many very successful Fish Frys at the church for well over 10 years. Eventually the decision was made to discontinue the Fish Fry because of the space concerns & the popularity of the Fish Fry in the area. One Fish Fry was held at the Lions Hall.
When the new church was completed & funds were needed to cover costs the Fish Fry was brought back last year as a budgeted fund raiser. We now had the parking & the Fellowship Hall to accommodate many people.
The menu consisted of fish, baked potato, vegetable, cole slaw, carrot & celery sticks, pickles, tartar sauce, sour cream, dinner roll & pie for dessert. A great meal!
This year we thought the project was gone because Howell’s were no longer able to do the Fish Frys. However, in November, the Elmira Kiwanis Club approached us with the idea of the club manufacturing some equipment to do local Fish Frys. Would we be interested in working on this together? So, this year there will be a Fish Fry at Gale with the Elmira Kiwanis Club cooking the fish.
The Fish Fry is on Wed., May 7th from 4:45 – 7 p.m. with continuous serving. Advance tickets only. Adult tickets are $15.00 & children (under 12) are $7.50. Call the Church Office 519-669-2852 or Lee 519-669-8217 for tickets or get your tickets in the Fellowship Hall before & after the church service.
