Sermon Short for April 26th, 2020

And our eyes were opened

Luke 24:13-35, Psalm 116; 1-4, 19-19

The Gospel of Luke is unique in giving us this story that takes place shortly after the events of Easter. Two people are on their way to Emmaus. Something cataclysmic had rocked their world and they were trying to make sense of it – talking it through. Jesus himself came near, although they did not recognize him. But through more talking, and sharing a meal, their eyes were opened and they knew him. Then things fell into place.

Covid is rocking our world now. This may lead to a new understanding of our systems, our structures, our lifestyles. It may open the eyes of many of us and then we can make sense of it all.
