WHEN BAD THINGS HAPPEN BY GOOD PEOPLE
Psalm 51, Psalm 120, Matthew 5:38-42, Judges Chapters 19-21
“I’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO HEAR A SERMON ABOUT …”
The Bible has many 
wonderful stories, which we’ve often heard in sermons and Sunday School lessons. It has many other stories too, which aren’t covered. Violent wars, conquests, us vs them, and other terrible acts and behaviours. Some acts are too cruel to mention here. Usually justified as divine providence or the proof that “our” God loves us more than “them”.
How do we reconcile these un-Christian behaviours, especially given that these may resonate with people today and are probably still responsible for the state we’re in today? How do we tell children what to make of these stories in the Bible?
Heck, never mind the kids: how should us adults make sense of them?
