I THINK IT’S ABOUT FORGIVENESS
Micah 7:18-19, Luke 23:33 –38
This week is the beginning of Lent. We do lots of different and special things to mark this season in our church. Tuesday Table, Wednesday Ministerial Services, Candle extinguishing. And a new thing this year – a prayer tree.
For the Sundays in this season we will be considering the last words of Christ on the cross. It starts with the words, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” How does a person so wrongfully and violently treated look upon his tormentors and respond with such an absolution? At what seems like the end of Jesus’ story he chooses words that capture the essence of everything he was about – its about forgiveness.
