Sermon Short for March 29th, 2020

Interesting times

Isaiah 43:1-3a, Matthew 10:28-33

Many pithy sayings can have dual, and contradictory interpretations. A co-worker of mine from a few years ago would often say “May you live in interesting times.? I always took it to be a positive wish – a blessing. But my recent research reveals it has most commonly been used a curse. It is ironically used with the implication that “uninteresting times”, of peace and tranquility, are more to be wished that interesting ones that imply trouble and strife in the world.

Undoubtedly, we are living in interesting times. I want us to decide for ourselves whether these times a curse or a blessing.

WE WILL NOT MEET AT THE CHURCH BUILDING
