SERMON SHORT FOR MAY 24th, 2020

What, me worry?

Acts 1:6-14, 1st Peter 4:12-14, 5:6-11

The disciples are gathered with the risen Christ. At the end of this gathering Jesus leaves in clouds. Now what? What are they going to do in response to this amazing vision? There is a moment of amazement as they gaze in wonder and it is broken by further visions of men in white assuring them that this is still not the end. Something more is coming. But what do they do to process this?

What do we do to process this? Are we caught in any “in-between” time where things don’t seem like they used to be and we are not quite sure what’s coming next?  Has something changed the world around us and left us with anxious fear? Is there some worry about the untraveled road ahead and realization that things tomorrow will not be the same as things yesterday?

They never are.

What, me worry?
