Sermon Short for May 31st – Pentecost

Trudging the truth

Acts 2:1–21, John 20:19-23

On Pentecost, we celebrate the triumph of the Spirit. Over all our differences, even the differences of our nationalities and our languages, of class, of race, of gender, over all these differences, the Spirit has triumphed.

It should not have worked, though. When we consider way the Holy Spirit has brought us to this place and time, it should be surprising that it has worked. There is a lot going against the Christian proclamation of our truth. But with trudging determination, somehow, here we are.

I believe that with trudging determination, the Good News of Christ will survive even a pandemic.
