The first rehearsal for “The Simple Gifts of Christmas”, our children’s Christmas musical, will be following worship today until 12:30 p.m. We hope all the children and youth will come and take part.

This past week, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, we had about 12 volunteers signed up and about 20 got the work done.

…with a little socializing
…with 2 new Gale members to get to know.
…one mother, with child to come!!
…and some great support from some of our youth.

We were able to get 1093 pies shells made and 1340 pie boxes assembled.
You can still HELP.   We only have 35% of the necessary volunteers for next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
If you can help please sign up on the sign-up sheets in the fellowship hall.

Woolwich Community Services provide support for the most vulnerable in our Community.
We help by filling our grocery cart each month.
For the month of October, we are collecting condiments.
For example: ketchup, mustard, relish, pickles, mayo, salad dressings, etc.

NOOMA is a series of short films (10 – 15 minutes each) that explore our real world in an engaging format. The presentations are Christian based and very thought provoking. We’re going to show some of the series throughout November. Each presentation will have some follow-up discussion and some take-home thought provokers. Each evening begins at 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday November 2nd
Trees: Do our lives even matter?
Wednesday November 16th
Rain: Where is God when life is not good?
Wednesday November 30th
Flame: Is the word ‘love’ misunderstood?

We are currently working on the next issue of Gale Gatherings, planning to have it available for mid-November. If you have something to submit for this publication, please get it to Donna Lenz no later than November 10. You can contact Donna by phone at 519-669-8674, by email at djhlenz15@gmail.com or by leaving a note in her mail file at church.

On Saturday November 19, 2016 the Elmira Kiwanis Club will conduct its annual Food Drive for Woolwich Community Services starting at 9:00 am.
The food collected supplies most of the food used in the Christmas Good-will hampers.
If convenient, it would be appreciated if you would leave non-perishable food items on your porch in a bag or box marked for the Kiwanis Food Drive.

Gale Presbyterian Church will celebrate its 150th Anniversary in 2018.
Doug Dann & Barbara Martin are coordinating a project to make it a true celebration year.

We welcome volunteers to join in the many tasks involved.

  1. Special Events
  2. History of Gale to be rewritten
  3. Promotion
  4. Worship Events
  5. Gala Events
  6. Others as defined

Please contact Doug or Barb.  A brain storming meeting will be held in October.

World Food Day…Across the globe, small-scale farmers are suffering the effects of climate change. Prolonged drought, erratic rainfall and a growing rate of weather related disasters are also taking their toll. In Ethiopia, Meserete Jima’s crops were obliterated in the wake of a powerful El Niño phenomenon sweeping southern Africa. “I’m very concerned about my family’s future,” admits Meserete. In times of disaster, Presbyterian World Service & Development responds with food assistance to sustain families until they can plant again. The rations Meserete received with support from Canadian Foodgrains Bank are vital to her family’s well-being. On World Food Day, we reflect on the global struggle against hunger and the need to address climate change to ensure food security for all.
