Gale Fellowship Retreat a Great Success

On Friday, May 23, over 40 Gale members and friends headed to Camp Kintail for a Weekend Retreat.DSCN1139SarahB_LilykkkLR

Arrivals began Friday evening when we started in the lodge for snacks and a quick hello before heading to the meadow for a campfire and sign along with the awesome Camp Staff.

We were awakened Saturday morning to beautiful sunshine, warmer temperatures, singing birds and the smell of  pancakes and sausage.  After a filling breakfast the dishes where done and we headed out in a few directions. Camp staff helped us climbDSCN1058DianeC_climbingForSunLR the rock wall and challenged us to the high ropes before zipping down the zip line. For those who wanted to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground, they had a chance to learn archery, have a challenging game of nature bingo, or head out on a scavenger hunt.

Everyone returned to the lodge to refuel with a lunch offering two kinds of soup, pulled pork or hotdog on a bun, coleslaw and veggies with dip. We finished the meaDSCN1018balancingActLRl with brownies and ice-cream. Apparently pulled pork on your hotdog tastes great!

After lunch we gave back to Camp Kintail with a work project. Many helped clean windows, spread mulch in the tree garden and helped drag some branches down to the beach.

As the temperatures warmed nicely in the afternoon, some tried out the low ropes course or tried their arm at disc golf before heading to the beach! What! Yes, the beach, where some even braved the waters of Lake Huron, some in canoes, paddle boards and kayaks while others dipped their toes in or more!

DSCN1072trilliumkkkLRSupper was served in the lodge at 5.30 p.m. We all enjoyed a meal of baked pasta, Caesar salad, and garlic toast and finished it off with fruit crisp and ice-cream.

At 7.00 p.m. there was a camp game of cups! We closed the evening on the beach for a campfire with songs!

Sunday was started with muffins and fruit and lots of strong coffee!

We had our Sunday morning worship in the beautiful camp chapel listening to the waves roll in, in the background!

We finished our weekend outside with a brunch before heading home.DSCN1128servicekkkLR

It was a great weekend for everyone to get to know each other, to lend a helping hand and to have some time to be ‘themselves’! Thank you to the Camp Kintail staff for all your work to make the weekend successful!

Plan to join us next year and join in on the fun. Mark your calenders now for May 22, 23, and 24, 2015
